They Ask Why 02:04
THEY ASK WHY “Thoughts and prayers to yours and theirs.” Cry the adults that surround me. How about my thoughts? They’re filled with shots And these bloodstains all around me. He shot my friends, and now they’re dead. But mommy don’t you worry. This kind of subject’s taught in school. It’s a lesson we learn early. I’ve practiced so many times before How to hide and how to run. Oh mommy, don’t be sad today. It’s just a big boy and his gun. You say it’s not normal. I don’t believe it. We’ve asked for help, But don’t receive it. What do you mean You can’t conceive it? We hate it too but it’s all we know. Mommy asks why. She doesn’t know. Daddy asks why. He hates any control. Society asks why. But can’t they vote? The president asks why. Is this a joke? We want to live! Parents ask why. Society asks why. The government asks why. When they don’t act we die. But hey, they don’t know.

BETWEEN YOUR AND YOU’RE Back home he was somebody’s son. A brother and a lover and a friend. Out here he’s an alien invader. A hopeless chameleon. Once a scholar she gained an education, but migration’s made that paper null and void. Forced to flee from a violent situation. Now she scrubs crust from the toilets of your neighbor down the road. Brutality scratching from behind you. Ahead the mirage of blue men prowling on the hunt. What would you do if you weren’t wanted? A slow-burn paranoia between two hells you confront. (Your home!) Would you leave it? (You’re home!) But still mistreated. (Go home!) The demand’s repeated. Between your and you’re is an anxious state, Where here and there share equal hate. The subtle stench of proxy war and genocide, Of corruption and disaster and of death Permeates the air of these new ones, In search of a less putrid breath. Is it worth the boat, the fence, the hurt? Is the hardship worth the scorn? In the midst of a do-or-die crisis Would it matter, Should it matter where you were born? Straddling an invisible line between yesterday and tomorrow. All you own in a plastic bag. Eyes faced forward, Family on you back. Clambering toward a life unknown. Begging. Crying. Praying. Fighting. Swimming. Climbing. Hoping. Dying. For a home that lasts.

RUNGLESS LADDER They sow it. They reap it. Then move on, to grass more green. You try it, but failure. Their soil just chokes your seed. Rigged by them in spite of us. They allege the ladder that they climbed serves us, serves us. But decay shows the rungs have been long gone. Pretty sus, pretty sus to me. Come on now tell us, where did they go? Your disregard of our future, what will it show? You won’t live to know. So here’s the thing. Priced out of education. We can’t afford the rent. Climate deprived. Old 45. You wonder why we’re bent? No wonder why we’re bent. “I lived my life for me!” A phrase we can’t let be. Of a people who together agreed on a greed that impairs you and me. We live a life of misinformation. They call us the lost generation.

Influence Me 03:06
INFLUENCE ME I want to be like you. I want to be like you. I want to be like you. (x4) Come on and tell me what to buy And what to do and what to drink. Oh please, oh please inform my life. You know without you I can’t think. I love your masters who make masters Who make slaves with all those links. Come on, influence me. Come on and tell me how to look And what to say and what to wear. Those “mellow vibes”, You’re oh so wise. Oh man I’m so glad that I care. Such precious power you deserve. Those heart-shaped buttons give you air. You are the new celebrity. No reality. The necessity. Of insularity. I want to be just like you, please. I want to be your financial tool, please. I want to be your level of cool, please. I want to be one of your fools, please. I want to be a narcissist’s fuel, please. I want to be just like you. Just like you. Just like you. Just like you.

Echo Chamber 01:40
ECHO CHAMBER Face left blue, vindictive scream. I don’t want to know. I see. I’m blind. Stick with my kind. Right all the time. Playback, rewind. My own placebo. These echos all around me. They validate my crimes. I’d rather bleed than ever cede to attempt some kind of alien approach. I’m fine. And I hate. And I’m scared. Like hell I’m not, What stupid thoughts. But maybe not, My mind’s so fraught. Is there something, Something shared? Are we the same? Two sides of the same coin. Not white, Not black But grey? Now it’s clearer. And there’s less fear. And now I finally see. Escaping these bonds, of futility. Emboldened by a lack of truth and proof and still-born narratives. Upheld by whims. A Gentry of keyboard masses. When in reality what we all want, It spans across all classes. Freedom to think. Freedom to choose. Freedom from harm when expressing your views. Freedom to be. Freedom to be. Freedom to be. Freedom to be.
